OIRA Adult Program

Join the OIRA Adult rowing program.

There is adult rowing available for those with demonstrated capability.

Annual membership is $250. You also need to be a member of US Rowing (USR). If you are not then you need to join USR first which you can do online at the US Rowing website .

Here is a PDF file with the Current Masters Roster . Get in touch with other rowers that have completed the 2 introductory classes and or have previous rowing experience.

Some of you might be interested in "Open Water" rowing opportunities. Check out Sound Rowers web site . In particulr there is a local Open Water race around Shaw Island (14 miles) in August that is organized by the local Sound Rowers rep. Mike Reid (4956).

$250 for annual club membership required.

USR membership required.

Qualified adult rowing members can access the boat house anytime. Qualified means :

• Completed sculling class or persuade coaches you are competant sculler
• Swim and Flip test
• Dues paid to OIRA
• USR member and local signed copy of USR waiver on file.

You MUST log all boat usage. You must NOT give access to any non members.

You are urged to only row well within your capabilities when there are no coaches in attendance. Always use lights when rowing in the early morning. If in any doubt row with company. If you do row alone tell someone and make a date to check in when you are finished. Rowing can be very dangerous especially when the water is cold.
